What I did
I wrote a game in JavaScript. Click the Start the game button to play it. Good luck.Type all undercase.
History of coding
Programming started with the Jacquard loom. It was invented in 1801 and used to make clothes. Ada Lovelace was the first programmer in the early 1800's. She wrote a mathematical procedure for Charles Baggage's Analytical Engine. In honor of her U.S. Department of Defense named a computer language after her. "The first truly programable computer, known as Colossus Machines, were developed by the British in World War II and were used to break encryption codes used by the German army" (Visual Academy). In 1961 the first computer game called "Space War!" came out. In the U.S. programmers are paid about $60,000.The first highly used computer language was FORTRAN in 1957.
What coding is and what it looks like
Programming has been around for over 200 years. Coding is the way of telling a computer what to do. Here are some ways and what they look like.
Langauge: FORTRAN
Year: 1957
Use: FORTRAN is used to perform scientific research. It is used by the National Weather Service
Example:
PROGRAM POKEMON
WRITE(UNIT=*, FMT=*)
'I like Pokemon!'
END
Language: C
Year: 1969
Use: C is used to program LINUX
Example:
#include <studio.h>
main()
{
puts("I like Pokemon!)";
}
Language: C++
Year: 1983
Use: C++ is used to program Firefox, Abobe and Microsoft Office
Example:
#include<iostream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
cout<<"I like Pokemon!"<<endl;
return 0;
}
Language: Python
Year: 1991
Use: "...to fix problems in the ABC language..." (Anthony). Python is used by YouTube, Google Search and NASA.
Example:
#Pokemon in Python
print "I like Pokemon!"
Language: JavaScript
Year: 1995
Use: JavaScript is used to make websites interactive. It is used by rackspase.
Example:
<html>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.write{"<p>I like Pokemon!</p>"};
</scrpit>
</html>
